I made a trip a few weeks ago out to Oceano Beach (kinda connected to Pismo if you need a more familiar name). Discovered that this is the only beach – in California at least that you can legally drive on! You pay a $5 day use fee, but the fun you get out of it is well worth it and much cheaper than a charge for trespassing. Highly recommended that you have a 4×4! Took the Wrangler out for the first time to the beach – definitely something to remember, sorry no specifics.
So if you’re looking for a place to rip up sand or camp with your (fun) buddies alongside your favorite 4×4 vehicle/trailer – this is the place in the summer time to be. I will be making the same trip again soon to camp/swim and maybe bring out my D700 instead of the iPhone 4 (used for the above picture). I do have a video of my first encounter, stay tuned for a post.
